The Story
Surf drumming is all about the reverb. From the dripping spring-tank sound on a Dick Dale record to the tom-tom patterns of the Surfaris' 'Wipe Out,' surf drums live in their own echo chamber. The best surf drummers play with a combination of precision and abandon — tight snare rolls that cascade into tom fills, kick patterns that gallop like a wave building to break, and ride cymbal work that shimmers like sun on water.
This kit was tracked with surf's signature sound built in at the source. The grooves are energetic and reverb-drenched — driving tom patterns, galloping kick rhythms, and snare rolls that rattle with urgency. The feel is loose and wild, the way surf music sounds when the band is playing at a beach party instead of a studio.
Recorded with natural spring reverb captured at the source — not added after the fact. The snare has a bright, rattling tone that sings through the reverb. The toms are tuned deep and resonant for those iconic surf rolls. The kick is punchy and fast. The whole kit was captured as a complete, reverb-soaked instrument, but individual close mics give you the option to dial it back and add your own treatment. Either way, these drums sound like salt air and sunshine.

If a Kontakt Engine version is included, it requires the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt (v5.5 or higher) and will not run in the free Kontakt Player.
Will this work in my DAW?
