A musical world of upside down and inside out. Acoustic guitar, banjo, mandolin, glockenspiel, bells, music boxes, and vintage synths create textures that defy convention. Eccentric, mischievous, and endlessly inventive.
The Story
Normal guitars play normal notes. Quirky guitars play upside down and inside out. Take an acoustic guitar and tune it up a full octave — now it sounds like a music box made of wood. Take a banjo and fingerpick it so gently it barely whispers. Put a mandolin through a vintage tremolo unit and suddenly it's from a 1960s spy film you've never seen. Add a glockenspiel, some bells, and a hand-cranked music box, and you've entered a world where every instrument sounds like it was found in an attic and nobody knows how to play it properly — which is exactly why it sounds so good.
This library is that world. Acoustic guitars in every tuning — hi-strung, de-tuned, natural — alongside banjo, mandolin, vintage electric guitar, glockenspiel, bells, music boxes, and old analog synths. The focus is on melodies, textures, and rhythms that defy convention. These aren't chord-strum patterns. They're eccentric little pieces of music that add personality and surprise to anything they touch. One part might sound like a carousel. Another might sound like a clock winding down. Each one is a character.
Recorded to preserve the organic imperfections that make quirky instruments work. The hi-strung acoustic has its slightly out-of-tune shimmer. The music box has its mechanical click between notes. The glockenspiel rings with natural sustain and overtones. No auto-tune. No quantizing. No processing to clean up the irregularities — because the irregularities are the entire appeal. Every stem sounds like a real object in a real room, played by a human being with a sense of humor.

What formats are included with my purchase?

You get DAW-Ready Sessions (pre-formatted, ready-to-open sessions for supported DAWs), Multi-Format audio (WAV, for drag-and-drop into any DAW), Apple Loops, and REX and — on most libraries — a Kontakt Engine Edition. Do I need Kontakt to use this library?
No. Kontakt is completely optional. All libraries include standard WAV files that work in any DAW without additional software. If a Kontakt Engine version is included, it requires the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt (5.6.5 or higher) and will not run in the free Kontakt Player.
Will this work in my DAW?
Yes. All We Sound Human products work in every major DAW using standard audio files.

Are these playable instruments, or can I play them on a MIDI keyboard?
These are performance-based loops and phrases played by real musicians — not multi-sampled instruments where you play individual notes. The Kontakt Engine Edition is phrase-based: you arrange and edit authentic recorded performances rather than playing free melodies or chords from a MIDI keyboard. If you're after a playable instrument for live improvisation, these libraries aren't built for that.
