The Story
Folk music was always the quiet one in the room. While rock got louder and country got shinier, folk stayed small on purpose — one voice, one guitar, one story worth telling. Then a new generation found it. Sarah Jarosz, The Civil Wars, Gillian Welch, Patty Griffin — they brought orchestration without losing the intimacy. Cello under a mandolin. String sections that swell and retreat. Songs that sound like they were written in a kitchen and performed in a cathedral.
This library follows that path. The arrangements are gentle but layered — acoustic guitar, mandolin, fiddle, cello, and strings woven together with restraint. Every part was played by musicians who understand that contemporary folk is about what you don't play as much as what you do. The spaces between notes matter. The dynamics matter. You'll find verses built on a single fingerpicked guitar — and choruses where the cello, strings, and mandolin all arrive at once.
Recorded with close microphones to preserve the intimacy of each performance. You hear the warmth of fingers on nylon and the breath of a bow across a cello string — small details that disappear when a room is too big or a mic is too far away. The space was kept quiet and tight on purpose. What you get is the sound of musicians playing three feet from the mic, exactly the way folk is supposed to feel. Warm, close, and honest.

Do I need Kontakt to use this library?
No. Kontakt is completely optional.
All libraries include standard WAV files that work in any DAW without additional software.
If a Kontakt Engine version is included, it requires the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt (v5.5 or higher) and will not run in the free Kontakt Player.
Will this work in my DAW?
Yes. All We Sound Human products work in every major DAW using standard audio files.
