The Story
Some of the most powerful film music ever written used almost nothing. Gustavo Santaolalla scored Brokeback Mountain and Babel with a lone guitar. Nick Cave and Warren Ellis built the soundtrack to The Assassination of Jesse James from fiddle, piano, and silence. Nathan Barr scored True Blood with bent strings and handmade instruments that sounded like they'd been buried in the ground for a hundred years. These composers proved that a single acoustic instrument in the right room, played with the right feeling, could carry an entire scene.
This library was built for that kind of work. Desolate guitars, fiddle, dulcimer, and atmospheric acoustic textures — each recorded as separate instrument layers that you can stack or use alone. One layer gives you a bare, lonely texture. Two layers add depth and movement. Three or more build into a full cinematic world. The players understood the assignment: restraint, tension, and emotional weight. Every note is chosen. Nothing is filler.
Each instrument was captured in isolation with its own dedicated signal chain — clean enough to sit exposed in a sparse mix, detailed enough to hold up under a full orchestral bed. The recordings breathe with natural room tone and real acoustic decay. No synthetic processing. No artificial atmosphere. The darkness and the beauty in these textures come from the instruments themselves and the way they were played. Drop a single dulcimer stem into a scene and you'll hear what that means.

Do I need Kontakt to use this library?
No. Kontakt is completely optional.
All libraries include standard WAV files that work in any DAW without additional software.
If a Kontakt Engine version is included, it requires the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt (v5.5 or higher) and will not run in the free Kontakt Player.
Will this work in my DAW?
Yes. All We Sound Human products work in every major DAW using standard audio files.
