The Story
Funk drumming is a conversation between the kick and the hi-hat. The snare shows up on the backbeat to keep order, but the real groove happens in the spaces between — the syncopated kicks that push the bass line forward, the hi-hat patterns that open and close with a rhythmic logic that makes people move before they think. Clyde Stubblefield, Zigaboo Modeliste, David Garibaldi — they built a drumming vocabulary that hip-hop spent thirty years sampling.
This kit speaks that vocabulary fluently. The grooves are tight, syncopated, and relentlessly funky. The kick plays off the bass line with the kind of rhythmic interplay that defines the genre. The hi-hat patterns are detailed and dynamic — fast sixteenth notes that open and close in patterns that create their own melody. The snare is crisp and authoritative on the backbeat, with ghost notes scattered throughout that give the groove its human feel.
Recorded for clarity and punch. Every drum and cymbal has its own defined space in the mix. The kick is tight and fast with a defined beater attack. The snare is bright and cracking with a controlled ring. The hi-hats are captured in meticulous detail — you can hear every open, close, and half-open articulation. Room ambience is tight and controlled. These drums were recorded to groove hard and mix clean.

Do I need Kontakt to use this library?
No. Kontakt is completely optional.
All libraries include standard WAV files that work in any DAW without additional software.
If a Kontakt Engine version is included, it requires the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt (v5.5 or higher) and will not run in the free Kontakt Player.
Will this work in my DAW?
Yes. All We Sound Human products work in every major DAW using standard audio files.
