The Story
What happens when you stop playing a guitar and start torturing it? You bow it with a violin bow and it moans. You drill the strings and it screams. You reverse the signal and it speaks backward. You squeeze harmonics out of dead frets and it sings notes the instrument was never designed to make. Experimental guitarists have been doing this for decades — Jimmy Page bowed his Les Paul live. Sonic Youth retuned their guitars to the point of unrecognition. Jonny Greenwood turned a Telecaster into an orchestra of wrong notes. The sounds that come out aren't guitar anymore. They're something else entirely.
This library captures that transformation. Guitar soundscapes, impacts, drones, atmospheres, textures, and SFX — all created from real guitar performances that have been mangled, bowed, drilled, reversed, and processed into cinematic sound design. Every part was recorded through two paths — the fully processed amped tone and the unprocessed direct signal underneath. The amped version gives you the finished sound design piece. The direct version gives you the raw source material to re-process through your own chain.
The sound design begins at the instrument, not in a plug-in. The guitarist performed extended techniques — bowing, scraping, hammering, and manipulating the strings in ways that produce sounds no synthesizer can replicate. Those raw acoustic events were then processed through analog effects and captured. The result is sound design with a physical, organic origin — you can feel the weight of a real object being manipulated, even when the final sound is completely unrecognizable as a guitar. That physical reality is what gives these textures their visceral impact.

What formats are included with my purchase?
Every purchase includes all available formats, bundled for one price — no edition to choose at checkout. You get DAW-Ready Sessions (pre-formatted, ready-to-open sessions for supported DAWs), Multi-Format audio (WAV, for drag-and-drop into any DAW), Apple Loops, and REX and — on most libraries — a Kontakt Engine Edition. You get everything.
Do I need Kontakt to use this library?
No. Kontakt is completely optional. All libraries include standard WAV files that work in any DAW without additional software. If a Kontakt Engine version is included, it requires the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt (5.6.5 or higher) and will not run in the free Kontakt Player.
Will this work in my DAW?
Yes. All We Sound Human products work in every major DAW using standard audio files.
This includes Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Pro Tools, FL Studio, Cubase, Studio One, GarageBand, Reaper, and more.
If your DAW can play audio, these sounds will work.
Are these playable instruments, or can I play them on a MIDI keyboard?
These are performance-based loops and phrases played by real musicians — not multi-sampled instruments where you play individual notes. The Kontakt Engine Edition is phrase-based: you arrange and edit authentic recorded performances rather than playing free melodies or chords from a MIDI keyboard. If you're after a playable instrument for live improvisation, these libraries aren't built for that.
What if the library doesn’t fit my project?
We want you creating with sounds you love. If you're not happy with your purchase within 30 days, install it, give it a try, then reach out — we'll help you find a library that better fits, or issue a full refund.
How do downloads and future access work?
