The big band sessions deliver the classic sound — trumpets, trombones, and saxophones arranged in sections and recorded with the natural blend of musicians playing together in a room. The swing material keeps the tempos up and the rhythm section locked into grooves that make it impossible to sit still. Jazz funk pushes the feel harder — syncopated horn lines, greasy bass grooves, and drums that borrow from funk as much as jazz. Together, they cover everything from a vintage ballroom atmosphere to a modern, groove-driven production.
Every horn was recorded live — not sampled, not synthesized. The trumpets have the brightness and bite of real brass. The trombones have the warm, round body of a slide instrument played with breath and muscle. The saxophones have the reedy, vocal quality that only comes from air moving through a wooden mouthpiece. The rhythm section — piano, bass, guitar, and drums — was tracked as a unit to capture the interplay of a real band. Gold sounds like a room full of musicians because that's exactly what it is.

No. Kontakt is completely optional. All libraries include standard WAV files that work in any DAW without additional software. If a Kontakt Engine version is included, it requires the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt (5.6.5 or higher) and will not run in the free Kontakt Player.

If you're after a playable instrument for live improvisation, these libraries aren't built for that.
