The Story
Bluegrass was born in the hollers of Appalachia, where the only instruments people had were the ones they could carry up a mountain. Bill Monroe put a name on it in the 1940s, but the music was already old by then — fiddle tunes passed down through generations, banjo patterns carried over from West Africa, and mandolin chops borrowed from Italian immigrants. The Stanley Brothers, Flatt & Scruggs, Ricky Skaggs, Alison Krauss — they each took it somewhere new. But the core never changed: fast fingers, tight harmony, and zero room to hide.
This library was recorded with pickers who live inside that tradition. The banjo player doesn't just play rolls — he plays the spaces between them. The fiddle player knows when to shred and when to lay back on a long, aching note. Mandolin, guitar, dobro, upright bass — every player locked in with the kind of timing you only get from years of festival stages and parking-lot jams. No click track. No punch-ins. These are full takes from musicians who listen to each other.
Recorded dry and close. No artificial reverb, no processing — just microphones placed to capture each instrument exactly as it sounded in the room. The banjo has its natural snap. The fiddle has its rosin and grit. The upright bass thumps the way it does when you're standing three feet from it. Every stem arrives clean and gain-staged, ready to sit in your mix or stand on its own.

Are these sounds royalty-free, and can I use them commercially?
Yes — 100% royalty-free, forever. Use the sounds in songs, albums, sync placements, film, TV, ads, client work, podcasts, and commercial releases. No attribution required, no per-use fees, and you keep full ownership of your finished work. Once you buy, you're free to create and release.
What formats are included with my purchase?
Every purchase includes all available formats, bundled for one price — no edition to choose at checkout. You get DAW-Ready Sessions (pre-formatted, ready-to-open sessions for supported DAWs), Multi-Format audio (WAV, for drag-and-drop into any DAW), Apple Loops, and REX and — on most libraries — a Kontakt Engine Edition. You get everything.
Do I need Kontakt to use this library?
No. Kontakt is completely optional. All libraries include standard WAV files that work in any DAW without additional software. If a Kontakt Engine version is included, it requires the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt (5.6.5 or higher) and will not run in the free Kontakt Player.
Will this work in my DAW?
Yes. All We Sound Human products work in every major DAW using standard audio files.
This includes Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Pro Tools, FL Studio, Cubase, Studio One, GarageBand, Reaper, and more.
If your DAW can play audio, these sounds will work.
Are these playable instruments, or can I play them on a MIDI keyboard?
These are performance-based loops and phrases played by real musicians — not multi-sampled instruments where you play individual notes. The Kontakt Engine Edition is phrase-based: you arrange and edit authentic recorded performances rather than playing free melodies or chords from a MIDI keyboard. If you're after a playable instrument for live improvisation, these libraries aren't built for that.
What if the library doesn’t fit my project?
We want you creating with sounds you love. If you're not happy with your purchase within 30 days, install it, give it a try, then reach out — we'll help you find a library that better fits, or issue a full refund.
